Within the policy on Student Code of Conduct, Being Safe, Responsible and Respectful and Kind, is the message we want our students to understand and adhere to. All students regardless of their sex, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, enjoy a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
Matrix of Behavioral Expectations at Nechako Elementary School
Note: expectations listed under specific settings are in addition to those expected in all settings. Behaviours cited in this Code of Conduct are examples only and are not an all-inclusive list
Many children are being afforded the privilege of cell phones at a younger age. Surprisingly, many elementary school-aged children have one. School District Policy is very clear on this issue:
“….can be disruptive to the educational environment and is not acceptable. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary measures and confiscation of the cell phone.”
There is a landline telephone in almost every room at Nechako. Students need not to bring a cell phone to school.
The school will not be responsible for any lost cell phones, or technological devices.
Head lice are small insects that live on the scalp. Anyone can get head lice. They are common in classrooms and day care centers because children play closely together.
Head lice are not dangerous and they do not spread disease, but they are contagious and can be a very pesky problem. Having dirty hair does not cause head lice. Head lice cannot fly or jump and you cannot get them from your pets. While they may be found anywhere on the head, they prefer to live on the scalp along the neckline and behind the ears. When lice bite the scalp they cause itching.
