September 28th is the Terry Fox Run. Every year Canadian students honour Terry’s spirit in his cause to fight cancer. In supporting this event you are carrying on his dream.

“I’ve said to people before that I’m going to do my very best to make it, I’m not going to give up. But I might not make it… if I don’t, the Marathon of Hope better continue.” Terry Fox

This past month, Mrs. Pacheco was lucky enough to go and see the Terry Fox Exhibition at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria BC.  She was amazed by all that she saw, including his prosthetic leg, the shorts he wore and the running shoes he wore on his journey! She has some photos below, to share with everyone.

At School

As this year Orange Shirt Day falls on a Saturday, Nechako Elementary School students and teachers will be commemorating this day on Friday, September 29, 2017.

The Importance of Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013.  It grew out of Phyllis’ story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
